Earnestly Seeking You
Read Isaiah 26:7-15, Acts 2:37-42
Devotional by Mallory and William Trogdon
In the season of Advent, we are awaiting the arrival of Jesus Christ. Annually, it feels this season always has a comforting and exciting build up to this anticipated arrival. It is also our responsibility to wait for God in times of darkness and distress. A more challenging act it can be to focus our actions on God during these times, but ultimately we will be met with the same comfort and excitement by doing so. This year has presented numerous challenges from the current pandemic, natural disasters, and an extremely divisive political environment. In combination with normal worship routines being disrupted, it can be easy to be distracted and turn from God. It is in these times that we must continue to desire God and put our focus on God as we wait. We don’t know the end game for our current situations, but we do know God’s promise and he is coming.
Prayer Dear Heavenly Father, grant us serenity and patience this Advent season. Help us to trust and believe that it is you who provides all we need. Every success and accomplishment we have had is because of you and not our own efforts. Give us the peace that comes only from knowing you. AMEN.
