God Does Great Things
Read Psalm 126:1-3
Devotional by Jim Brown
The Calendar
This Christmas year our social calendar may not be as full as in previous years due to the pandemic; but maybe, just maybe, this will allow us to be still - really still - and experience the great things God has done.
Little Boy
As a little boy, I would walk hand in hand with my grandmother to church. This is my earliest remembrance of God. When I now think of the things he has done for my family and me; I, too, am filled with joy as were the Israelites when they returned from exile to Jerusalem.
The Christmas Gift
On Christmas, God’s gift to the world was and is his one and only son: given so that we may have eternal life. We did nothing to deserve this gift of Baby Jesus. Oh what a way to steal the show on Christmas morning. “A Savior is born!”
The Beginning
In the beginning, God created the heavens and Earth. The Sun, Moon, and stars stand guard over this place we live. It burns and grows back. It floods and it restores. It quakes and it resettles.
Life Restored
God’s ability to restore life is beyond all understanding; and God is able to bring good out of tragedy. In this season of joy, when the storms of doubt sweep in - be still, be quiet, be patient, wait. The Lord is doing great things for us.
Prayer Father Almighty, giver of every good gift, grant that we who receive the blessings from thy bounty may accept them as a Holy Trust. Lord, you have done great things for us and we are filled with thankful joy. AMEN.
