Abide with us
Read Matthew 21:28-32
Devotional by Stuart Euliss
As Christians, it is always important to not only talk the talk, but also walk the walk. We cannot afford to just pray the prayers, read the scriptures, or just go through the motions. We must take our faith that we proclaim and put it into action throughout our everyday lives. Whether we are showing love and compassion to those who need it most, or just simply helping others who cannot help themselves, it is up to us to put in the time and effort it takes to act on our faith in Jesus Christ. If we were to just simply go through the motions day in and day out, then we are not living up to our full potential as followers of Christ. When our lives become stressful and hectic, it is key to always take a second and think about this scripture and what it truly means to be a Christian. Am I doing enough outside of my church? Should I set aside more time to volunteer in my community? I have asked myself these questions on occasion and unfortunately my answer was no. That is something that I have tried to correct as I have gotten older and have started a family of my own. This leads me to strongly believe that without the work, our faith is useless. Moral of the Scripture: Actions speak louder than words.
Prayer Dear God, give us the courage and strength to always abide in you and only you and watch over us as we put your words into action. In your heavenly name we pray. AMEN.
