In October the congregation approved the APNC which includes Robert Buckles, Melanie Duncan, Mary Layton, Matt Miller, Judy Planer, Ernest Sumner, II, and Mike Wallace. We want to thank Dan Commerford for providing us the information we needed to begin our work and Lance Perry for doing such a fantastic job of leading us through the process.
The new Associate Pastor will work with the Senior Pastor and Director of Faith Formation as one of three main ministry leadership positions at First Presbyterian.
We began work in late October and then met with Western Presbytery liaison Byron Wade in early November for Part One of our training. Our first step was to develop a MIF (Ministry Information Form), which is an overview of our church, along with the job description for the Associate Pastor position. We are pleased to share that the 14-page MIF was approved by Session on November 27 and has been sent to the Presbytery’s Committee on Ministries for approval. Upon approval, we will begin promoting the position and look forward to receiving Personal Information Forms (PIF) from potential candidates.
We will receive Part Two of our training with Byron Wade in early January as we learn how to review and evaluate the PIFs. The next step will be interviews with candidates.
Dan, Lance, and Byron have all stressed the importance of confidentiality throughout the process. We will keep you apprised of our progress with announcements during worship services and in First Press. We ask for your prayers as we discover God’s will and meet the candidate God has already chosen to be our next Associate pastor.
