Born in Asheville, but raised right here in Gaston County, Bethany holds a Master of Music degree from the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) and a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she attended as a NC Teaching Fellow. Her full time position as the choral director at Stuart W Cramer High School keeps her involved with two of her favorite things; teenagers and choral music. One of her additional favorite things is serving as Director of Music Ministries for the First Presbyterian Church in Gastonia where she continues to make music with adults that share a love for Christ and worshipping him together in song. She is the founder of North Carolina's Collegiate Choral Symposium held annually in October, as well as the Carolinas Conductor Summer Workshop held each August. Bethany was recently selected to study in South Africa as an International Conducting Fellow through the American Choral Directors Association with four other US delegates.
Bethany's professional affiliations include ACDA, PAM, Choristers Guild, and currently serves as member and president of the High School Choral Section within the NC Music Educators Association. Bethany's interests in the classroom include music literacy, assessment practices, and technology integration. Bethany's interests in the church include making music with others to honor our great God and bringing sacred texts to life through music in an effort to help believers connect and remain in their personal relationship with Christ. Outside of the classroom and church, Bethany LOVES being Aunt Beth to seven nieces and nephews, coaching basketball, jogging, and will eat anything but lima beans. |
