I have come to First Presbyterian Church, Gastonia after completing an interim at St. Giles Presbyterian Church in Raleigh, NC. Following 25 years as a solo pastor and head of staff in congregations in North Carolina, Indiana and Kentucky, I completed interim training. I have served six congregations as interim pastor.
My personal objective as an interim is to be a helpful and supportive resource for congregations in transition. Congregations can greatly benefit from an intentional time of transition clarifying their identity, addressing unresolved issues, and developing strategies in order to prepare the way for a new pastor. I love to help congregations find renewal, health and hope for the future. I am married to Kathy Beach who is pastor of Rumple Memorial Presbyterian Church in Blowing Rock, NC. Together we have five children, two of whom are still living at home. In my spare time I love to play guitar, hike, read, travel and attend folk/bluegrass music festivals... I attend Merlefest in Wilkesboro, NC every spring. I also love dark chocolate and almost all desserts. |
