Isaiah Cornelius comes to us from Salisbury, NC, where he attended grade school in the Rowan-Salisbury School System. After graduating from high school, he was accepted into the Music Education program at Wingate University, where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree in K-12 Vocal Music Education in 2017. Upon graduation, he began teaching at W.C. Friday Middle School in Gaston County Schools, where he was the Choral Director for three years. While at W.C. Friday, his students were often selected to participate in state-level choral festivals and received superior and excellent ratings at adjudication events. In the Fall of 2020, Isaiah returned to Rowan County, where he is now the Choral Director of the East Rowan High School Choral Arts Department. Isaiah continues to work in the Music Ministry at First Presbyterian Church of Gastonia, where he serves as a Section Leader for the Sanctuary Choir and rings handbells with the Sanctuary Ringers. Isaiah also serves as the Director of Children's Choir for the First Presbyterian Church Children's Ministry. He is excited to watch both, his high school program and the program here at FPC grow and is excited to witness young lives transform as they learn more about music and its interconnectedness to the real world and church.
