Holy Week Art Walk
Station 8: The Cross
When the centurion saw what had taken place, he praised God and said, “Certainly this man was innocent.” And when all the crowds who had gathered there for this spectacle saw what had taken place, they returned home, beating their breasts. But all his acquaintances, including the women who had followed him from Galilee, stood at a distance, watching these things.

“Passion
Beautiful and painful love
A journey like
No other.
Let me walk with you Jesus.
Let me hold your cross when it gets too heavy.
I wish I could save you.
But I can’t.
It hurts me to see you this way.
My shepherd
My friend
My Lord
Holy Love
Generous Love
Ultimate Love”

Prayer Prompt
How does this image help you to see and experience Holy Week in a new way? How does seeing all the images as a part of the cross expand the way that you understand Christ’s death? As you look at this image of the cross, what feelings are evoked? Pain? Grief? Loss? Hope? Wonder? What does it mean to recognize the goodness of the cross but also to see and feel the weight of the cross?
