As we make our way from the Resurrection Celebration of Easter to the Baptism of the Christ’s Church on Pentecost, we are examining the scriptural instructions Jesus gave to the disciples about what we are to do and how we are to conduct ourselves in the absence of Jesus until He comes again. Many of these passages are familiar to us:
“You are the Light of the world. So let your light shine so that others may see your good works and give glory to God who is in heaven...Whoever wants to be first must be last of all and be a servant of all...You shall love the Lord your God will all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. And you shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these...The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore, ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers in his harvest.”
This Sunday we’ll be looking at Matthew 24:14-30, known as the Parable of the Talents. Often used during the Stewardship Season, this passage contains grand instructions to us, disciples of Christ, on how we are called to be “all in” when it comes to using what God has given us to grow God’s Kingdom.
Hope to see you Sunday,
Grady
